The use of professional interpreters
Without claiming to "heal" torture, which is impossible, the multi-disciplinary team at the health center is trying to improve the physical, psychological and social well-being of the patients, allowing them to finally live - and not only survive - after torture and political violence.
To welcome the patient’s suffering, respecting his or her language is necessary.
As far as possible, consultations are conducted in the patient’s original language. The health center’s psychotherapists can sometimes offer consultations in several foreign languages. In most of the cases, the intervention of professional interpreters is necessary.
The health center ensures that each patient is always accompanied by the same professional interpreter, and that differents members of the same family can choose to be accompanied by different interpreters.
In 2017, 54% of patients have been accompanied by a professionnal interpreter.
